You can volunteer and help communities from any location. Nonprofit organizations often work with a small staff and tiny budgets. It can make a huge difference when volunteers like you offer to help.

  • USC Emeriti Center
    • During the COVID-19 crisis, it is important that we remain connected with one another as we practice social distancing. The USC Emeriti Center is offering an opportunity through to call someone who might feel isolated and if you wish, to receive a call yourself.
      This is a random phone matching system that will pair you with a USC retiree or USC faculty, staff, alumni, or friend.

  • Keck Medicine of USC
    • With the number of COVID-19 patients rising daily, leaders at Keck Medicine are asking for the community’s help in donating medical supplies now. That way, supplies will be ready if needed in the coming days and weeks, to protect staff and patients at Keck’s academic medical center and outpatient clinics.

  • Be My Eyes
    • Be My Eyes is a free mobile app with one main goal: to make the world more accessible for blind and low-vision people. The app connects blind and low-vision individuals with sighted volunteers and companies from all over the world through a live video call.

  • Golden Talk 24 Hr. Senior Chat Line
    • The IDSGT Foundation has launched a senior chat line called GoldenTALK where seniors can call to simply chat, and also can obtain resources if needed. Now that seniors have been asked to self-isolate due to Covid-19, the chat line is needed more than ever to keep seniors connected to their communities and to assist if help is needed.

    • Be a virtual volunteer! Anyone can contribute. Improve access to history by transcribing, reviewing, and tagging Library of Congress documents.

    • Want to help shape the future of the National Park Service’s digital presence?

  • Public Counsel
    • For all over 18 who are fluent in foreign languages. The biggest need is Spanish right now in response to the Covid-19 crisis. Most of Public Counsel’s projects need translation services, for example, to conduct a client interview, or present a translated version of a document to a court or administrative tribunal. This work can be done remotely by phone and email.

  • The Salvation Army
    • The Salvation Army is seeking volunteers to write cards, notes, draw pictures, etc. that can be distributed within our facilities. The Salvation Army operates several housing facilities in the Metro for those that are experiencing poverty or homelessness. Click HERE.
